About Isshiki & Co.
Kensuke Isshiki founded the firm in 1976. Succeeding Isshiki International Patent Office, Isshiki & Co. was established in 2003 as a patent business corporation. Isshiki & Co. is located in central Tokyo and currently employs about 70 individuals, including about 20 patent attorneys.
We handle all types of intellectual property matters, from prosecuting Japanese and international patent, utility model, trademark and design applications to rendering expert opinions as well as representing clients before the Japanese courts and the Japan Patent Office. We also handle copyright, unfair competition and other intellectual property matters.
With regard to patents and utility models, our team of patent attorneys and staff cover a full range of technology areas from electrical, electronic, mechanical, chemical, architectural, civil and software engineering to pharmaceutical and biotechnology. With regard to trademarks and designs, we prosecute, search and counsel in all classifications.
More than half of our patent attorneys are qualified as infringement lawsuit counsel and have extensive experience in opinion work, infringement litigation, invalidation proceedings, etc.
Our attorneys and staff include many who are proficient in English, and our translation specialists have extensive experience with translating patent literature into Japanese, English and Chinese. With one patent attorney from China and another admitted in Australia, we help support a wide range of international matters for our clients.
